DPS Indirapuram took a significant measure towards honouring India’s tribal heritage by hosting an event on ‘Tribal Empowerment’ as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. A special assembly held to address the concern was graced by the esteemed presence of a chief guest, Mr. V.B. Kumar, Indian Forest Service (retd.), former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), and head of Forest Force Punjab.
Captivating performances that transported the audience into the realms of India’s tribal cultures were the highlight of the event. Students eloquently presented the play ‘The Hornbill Warrior,’ a mesmerising portrayal of the cultural heritage of the Nagaland tribe, celebrating the traditions and stories that have shaped this unique community. The dance troupe showcased a rhythmic dance that echoed from the heart of Chhattisgarh, offering a visual tapestry of its cultural vibrancy.
Students took the audience on an inspiring journey through a short skit, shedding light on the remarkable achievements of our honourable President, Smt. Draupadi Murmu. A tree plantation campaign set the tone for the event where students from the School Social Service Club, joined by Mr. V.B. Kumar, IFS (retd.), planted saplings within the school campus.
Sharing her views on the event, Ms. Priya John, Principal, DPS Indirapuram, “Our ‘Tribal Empowerment’ assembly was a tribute to the enriching diversity that shapes our nation. By fostering cultural understanding, we sow seeds of unity and progress. The ‘Tribal Empowerment’ Special Assembly nurtured among our students the aim to become socially conscious citizens who value cultural heritage and ecological harmony.”
