Mumbai, 1st April 2019: Shahani Academic & Global Empowerment Foundation (SAGE), a non-profit trust focused on skills training, received a Rs 76 lakh grant from J.P. Morgan to help train 200 economically disadvantaged graduates in banking jobs. 

The Shahani Group will adopt innovative teaching methods to provide BFSI-specific training to these underprivileged youth. The Group is also preparing to update the curriculum and train teachers to meet the changing industry standards and ensure students are work-ready.

Lack of skills to secure a good job is one of the biggest barriers to economic opportunity. Every year thousands of fresh graduates look for employment in the financial sector but there is often a disconnect between educational achievements and practical requirements. It is, therefore, important to bridge the gap between employee skills and employer needs.
