Amity University Mumbai organized the International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology: Current Discoveries and Future Perspectives (ICAB-2023) on 17th and 18th October 2023. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A. W. Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Mumbai, in the presence of Dr. Gulshan Wadhwa, Adviser and Scientist ‘G’ in the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, India, who was the chief guest of the event.

The conference aimed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, stimulate knowledge exchange, and provide insights into emerging trends in biotechnology. Participants benefited from networking opportunities and gained new perspectives on the future of biotechnology. The ICAB-2023 conference served as an essential forum for professionals, academics, and industry experts to discuss and exchange the latest advancements, patterns, challenges, and solutions in interdisciplinary research and biotechnology.

At the inauguration speech as Convenor of ICAB-23 Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) A W Santhosh Kumar Said, There are more than 350 participants registered for the conference. More than 20 elite speakers from International and national backgrounds will help students build the research network. Amity University has a track record of fostering research in biotechnology. We have several centres of excellence. We have nine Ramalingam, and Ramaswami fellowships and more than twenty faculty who have received funding from the government

Chief guest Dr. Gulshan Wadhwa provided a brief overview of the status of advances in biotechnology. He introduced the gathering to the new initiatives taken by the government and shared the innovation and research activities by DBT. He also informed participants about the various funding opportunities available with the Department of Biotechnology.

Dr. Balaram Chowbay, Head, Pharmacogenomics Lab National Cancer Center, (Singapore), Dr. George Weber, Professor, University of Cincinnati (USA), Dr. Prashant Kharkar, Associate Dean, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, India, Dr. Subeer Mujumdar,  Director General, Gujarat Biotechnology University,  Dr. K Thangraj, J. C. Bose Fellow, Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India. Dr. Sadhana Ravishankar, Professor, School of Animal & Comparative Biomedical Sciences, University of Arizona, (USA) and Dr. Ruksana Raihan, Associate Professor, US-Bangla Medical College and Hospital Dhaka, (Bangladesh) are the prominent speakers at a two-day international conference.

The inauguration of the ICAB-2023 conference was a successful event that provided a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge in the field of biotechnology.
