High-level business and political leaders from both countries will attend the IABCA Showcase event in Sydney, New South Wales on April 29 to celebrate the Australia India relationship and discuss new opportunities in the wake of a historic trade agreement.

Supported by Investment NSW the India-Australia Business & Community Alliance’ (IABCA) comprises of the Global Leaders Forum and the Awards ceremony which is a flagship in the Australian business events calendar, with prominent guests across government, academia, private sector and civil society in attendance.

The IABCA awards recognize and celebrate organizations, social enterprises and business leaders from across the globe who are advancing the bilateral relationship, boosted by this month’s signing of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement. Indian companies are feeling a “new excitement” about Australia as a result, said Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal who was recently hosted by IABCA at an event in Sydney.

From January 2023 onwards, the IABCA will be hosted biennially in India across Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, marking the beginning of an ongoing rotational campaign between the two nations, marking the 10-year anniversary of the platform.

Commenting on the event, Vish Padmanabhan, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner (India and Middle East), Investment NSW said, “We are proud to be supporting IABCA 2022 in its 9th year to continue facilitating Australia’s relationship with India to promote trade and investment between the two nations. With participation from across the globe, the platform presents a great opportunity for organizations to interact with each other and partner for future growth prospects.”

Commenting on his participation as a panelist for a session at the IABCA Global Leaders Forum, Ankur Dhawan, President, Study Abroad, UpGrad said, “Australia has always been a dream destination for Indian students and despite the global pandemic, Indian students continued studying with Australian Universities online. Signing of bilateral pact between India and Australia is going to further accelerate this trend. I am excited to come to Australia and participate in the “soft power and diaspora diplomacy” panel at IABCA. Look forward to building a strong presence of upGrad Abroad in NSW.”

The event has four major initiatives coupled with a strong marketing campaign- a Parliamentary Roundtable held in Canberra Parliament led by Hon Julian Lesser MP which will connect key decision makers from across the two nations with the IABCA alumni to further strengthen cooperation between the nations; ‘IABCA Stars’ Finalist Celebration, which brings together the platform’s finalists, alumni network, key stakeholders, and government in celebration of the India Australia relationship ; ‘IABCA Global Leaders Forum’ comprising of panel discussions, fireside chats and keynote sessions highlighting the roadmap for continued growth and IABCA Awards Ceremony that unveils and celebrates the success stories of finalists and winners of the annual IABCA program.
