Faculty, Teaching Methodology, and Infrastructure
There are various reasons why IBS is unique and a notch above other business institutes. One of the factors that makes IBS stand out from other B-Schools is case-based study, which is a critical component of IBS’s academic practices. This methodology applies to every subject and program that falls under academics.
IBS houses faculties with decades of experience and specialization in their subjects. The teachers are well versed with both theoretical and real-world concepts. Many of them hold a doctorate degree with deeper understanding of each concept or idea. To facilitate the students with their case-study pedagogy, all the classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and audio/visual hardware that enhances the teacher-learner experience.
The library at IBS has a vast collection of books, CDs, journals (including International), magazines, and research papers. This collection of knowledge from enlightened writers and editors helps students acquire the desired knowledge and information on the subjects of their interest. The study material available here helps students hone their core competencies.
IBS uses Lib-Suite, a web-based software to control book activity, to maintain its library. Also, barcode scanners are used to issue library books.
The business school’s Intranet is used to monitor and control academics. It’s a platform through which students get connected with one another for academic purposes, placement, library, hostel requirements, and so on. Even the hostels, auditoriums, and other parts of the campus provide a high-speed internet connection.
Case study method is the key component of the academic program at IBS
IBS is one of the few institutions in India who have made case-based learning a critical component of pedagogy. Almost all the courses at IBS are taught through case studies. The case studies are being tailor-made to the requirements of different subject areas and topics. Student evaluation is based on class participation and written reports. Students are encouraged to analyse the issues in-depth by gathering supporting information – either through published sources or by directly interacting with the companies involved.
The Case Research Center (CRC) is a Center of excellence of ICFAI Group, developing high quality internationally benchmarked case studies. A dedicated and dynamic team works toward fulfilling the institution’s mission of developing high quality case studies, for its constituents as well as contributing cases to B-schools and organizations through The Case Centre, UK.

ICFAI is the third largest contributor of cases, next only to Harvard and INSEAD B- Schools.
