The first day of the workshop initiated enlightening discussions on why students should study economics, management and finance, led by the senior faculty of the institution. The sessions, broken down into an hour on each topic, also introduced students to the worlds of policymaking, data science, investment banking, consulting, and entrepreneurship, domains that will be covered individually by respective industry veterans in the coming days.

Aryapriya Ganguly, Associate Professor of Management at ISBF, who also recently achieved the distinguished status of becoming a University of London Worldwide Recognised Tutor, set the tone for the workshop, sharing that iAspire was a natural extension of ISBF’s natural pedagogy and was born out of its deep collaboration with high schools across the country.

“Economics, Management and Finance are rigorous disciplines and offer promising and enriching careers. Therefore, iAspire is aimed at giving students an insight into the impact, scope and prospects of these fields through interactive workshops with the experts themselves,” remarked  Mr. Chiraag Mehta, Associate Director, ISBF.

Each session focused on a different discipline, starting off with “How can studying economics help you change the world?”, led by Navni Kothari, Assistant Professor of Economics. The one-hour interactive session took a unique approach, asking students questions like ‘Do you want to change the world?’ and ‘Do you want to be happy?’, which became the hypothesis that the professor tested during the session.

This was followed by a session titled  “What are the USPs of a formal education in Management?”, conducted by Dr. G.L. Tayal, Dean, Academics at ISBF, Prof. Soumitro Mookherjee, Associate Professor of Management, Prof. Yavar Ehsan, Associate Professor of Management and Prof Aryapriya Ganguly, which tackled the importance of management for development of any business enterprise.

The third session, titled, “The World of Finance”, was led by Prof Neha Arora, Assistant Professor of Finance, and Prof Pushkal Pandey, Associate Professor of Finance at ISBF. Dr Pandey painted a detailed picture of the world of finance and helped students understand the primary areas of employment in the field.

In the last session of the day, ISBF’s Associate Director, Chiraag Mehta guided students on how to select subjects based on their likes and dislikes and offered personalised career guidance according to their aspirations. The session included a game wherein students had to classify careers into disciplines of Economics, Management, and Finance.

Tomorrow marks the second day of iAspire, and will have students learn from Pranay Agarwal, Equity Researcher at Goldman Sachs and Ms. Pallavi Malani, MD & Partner, Boston Consulting Group. This will be followed by a panel discussion with prominent academics and industry experts deliberating on a post-COVID  industry and career trends.

About ISBF

ISBF was founded in 2006 with the vision of delivering world‐class education in India. Through its partnerships with global giants like University of London, The London School of Economics and Political Science and Kingston University, ISBF ensures that students receive a rigorous, application-oriented and global education, which is relevant to local needs.

Many of them transfer to foreign universities in their second year of undergraduate study, go on to prestigious institutions for higher study, or secure placements in India or overseas with leading multinational corporations.

ISBF students are taught by an expert and highly qualified group of faculty members and also see deep engagement from partnering universities, who train ISBF’s teachers as well as conduct classes for students. On the LSE led programmes, ISBF students study the same curriculum and are held to the same standards as LSE students, with the programmes culminating into a University of London degree at a fraction of the cost.

Today, ISBF is one of LSE’s top five Teaching Institutions in the world, and also enjoys University of London’s Affiliate Centre status, the highest recognition accorded to teaching institutions by the university.

In the Academic Year 2020-2021, ISBF has initiated the Business Management (Honors) undergraduate programme in partnership with Kingston University. Students of this programme are full-fledged Kingston University students who necessarily transfer to KU in third year and graduate in London. They receive all the same benefits as international students studying at Kingston University including hostel accommodation, 2-year work VISA and other career related benefits. The programme also offers an optional year-long internship anywhere in the world. Students complete this programme at less than half the cost at ISBF.
