XLRI Celebrates ‘National Librarians’ Day’

13th August 2021:  XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur celebrated the ‘National Librarians’ Day’ at Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library on 12th August 2021 in remembrance of the 129th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R.  Ranganathan, the Father of Indian Library Science.

At a formal function Prof A K Pani, Dean – Academics Fr. Paul Fernandes S J, Director, Prof. M. Srimannarayana, Associate Dean, Corporate Program & VIL, Prof. J Ajith Kumar, Associate Dean – FPM & Research; Prof Santanu Gupta, the faculty & staff members of XLRI and the library staff members were present on this occasion.

In his inaugural speech Prof. Ashis K Pani, Dean – Academics expressed the importance of the library to an institute, prospects for the betterment of the library and promised all support from the management to upgrade the library to the next level. National Librarians He wished the library team.

Mr. D.T. Edwin, Head – Library, described Dr, S R Ranganathan’s life and his contribution to the Indian Library System. He said that XLRI library strives to provide all the possible services instantly while shouldering the institute’s objectives always. He requested the library team to be skilful and dynamic in rendering quality service to the user community.

Prof. J Ajith Kumar, Associate Dean, FPM & Research described that the library is like the heart of the institute. XLRI Library is always bringing new information and tools for use and the research community is highly benefited and satisfied.

Prof. Santanu Gupta, Economics Area talked about the transformation of the libraries for the past few decades and gave a few ideas to increase the footfall in the library and, suggested to motivate the users to perform all their collaborative ideas using library as the space.

Prof Himadri Roy Chaudhuri, Marketing Area appreciated the go-getting attitude of the library when there is a need of information or resource.

Prof Kanagaraj, Finance Area said that XLRI Library has a dedicated team and managed very professionally.

Prof R K Premarajan, Organizational Behaviour Area said that there is an excellent pace of responsiveness from the library towards the user needs.

Prof K R Shyam Sundar, Human Resource Management Area said the range of the library services has become wider leveraging technology meaningfully.

Prof Rahul Sheel, Organizational Behaviour Area, expressed that the connect with the library has increased in the last few years with various events and knowledge building activities.

Fr. Paul Fernandes S J, Director wished and blessed all the library team and distributed the National Librarians’ Day Quiz prizes to the toppers Mr Suman Kumar, Ms Dibiya Suchita Ekka, and Ms K N Harini.
