New Delhi, 27 Novemeber 2017: To celebrate the dauntless journey of the Constitution of India, the Faculty of Law at Manav Rachna University (MRU) observed a ‘Law Week’ at its campus in Faridabad. Renowned professors and law experts discussed the different facets of law during the five-day celebrations.

The ‘Law Week’ culminated on November 24 with the release of the official newsletter by the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Hon’ble Justice K G Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India in the presence of Mr. Deepak Gupta, District & Sessions Judge, Faridabad; Mr. Parag Tripathi, Senior Advocate;  Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC, MRIU; Dr. V K Mahna, ED, MREI; Dr. Meenakshi Khurana, PVC, MRU; Prof. (Dr.) Jose Verghese, Prof. Emeritus, MRU and several other dignitaries.

Several intriguing subjects including the Constitutional Journey of India, Innovation & IPR in India, UID & Privacy, Women & Law, law & Religion, Art of Advocacy, Criminal Justice Delivery System, and Corporate Practice were discussed with the aspiring law students. Noted speakers included Mr. Anil Grover, Additional Advocate General of Haryana; Prof. Usha Ramnathan & Dr. Jyoti Sood from the Indian Law Institute; Prof. B T Kaul and Dr. Alka Chawla from the Delhi University.



The celebrations were replete with a Poster Making Competition and a Law Quiz.

Former Chief Justice of India, K. G. Balakrishnan, spoke at length about the Fundamental Rights, The Constitutional Developments over the years and the empowerment of women. He said, it is the young law students who hold the future of the country and stressed that budding lawyers should have courage, conviction and thorough knowledge of facts to avoid getting misled. He inspired the students for seeking the righteous path of courage and truth through mastering in the knowledge of facts.

Human right is a relevant an issue in India. Therefore, a learning institution like the Manav Rachna University should disseminate knowledge on human rights for the realization of dignity and equality,” he further adds.

In his address, Dr. Meenakshi Khurana said: “At the Faculty of Law, we give our students the exposure to cutting-edge issues of law and policy, ranging from women’s rights to international trade. Our focus has been on innovative teaching in an encouraging and open academic environment, where our students are groomed under the aegis of expert faculty. Events such as these bolster the work experiences of our graduating students and equip them with the skills they need to succeed in a diverse set of fields, both in India and abroad”.
