Dr. Jitin Chadha, ISBF’s Founder & Director, set the ball rolling for the new academic session through his encouraging speech where he warmly welcomed the new cohort. Addressing the students, Dr. Chadha said, “Everything that we do here is designed to match your newly acquired state of life. The learning experience that you will undergo at ISBF will prepare you for 21st-century cognitive skills.”

Dr. G. L. Tayal, Dean, Academics, also exhorted the incoming batch, urging them to put their best foot forward in order to make the most of the world-class LSE curricula in Economics, Management, Finance and Data Science that they have the opportunity to pursue.

The highlight of the day was the Panel Discussion on How a college education can signal one’s ability and help optimise academic and professional opportunities by Dr. Rajat Kathuria, Director & Chief Executive, ICRIER, Mr. Sameer Mittal, Director, Ameriprise Financials and Mr. Rohan Sharma, Founder, ConneXTech and an ISBF alumnus.

The panelists welcomed the students into their new roles as students of higher education. They added that it heralded the building of strong capabilities for the future, which would help them optimise their academic and professional opportunities. Mr. Rohan Sharma, as an alumnus of ISBF, pointed out the uniqueness of the programmes the students were about to embark upon, and how ISBF’s pedagogy helped him in his endeavours as a professional and then an entrepreneur

Dr. James Abdey, Associate Academic Director of the UOL Programmes at LSE and Visiting Lecturer at ISBF, also sent a video message to mark the commencement of the session and inspire the latest batch of ISBFians on the first day of their ISBF-LSE journey. He emphasized that this journey will inevitably yield great experiences and friendships, and not just for a few years, but for life. As words of wisdom for the incoming batch, he said that the keys to success in academic programmes as demanding as LSE’s is to work collaboratively and inculcate a strong spirit of enquiry, which is the bedrock of ISBF’s teaching and learning environment. Dr. Abdey will teach Statistics, Econometrics and Business Analytics to various incoming and existing batches in the upcoming session.

Along with various induction activities for the new students and their parents, the proceedings of the day also included the introduction of ISBF’s eminent faculty group, that of the Students’ Council and some performances by the college teams.

About ISBF

ISBF is one of the select few Featured Teaching Institutions of LSE in the world, and also enjoys University of London’s Affiliate Centre status, the highest recognition accorded to teaching institutions by the university. This ensures that ISBF students receive a rigorous, application-oriented and global education, which is relevant to local needs. Many of them transfer to foreign universities in second year of undergraduate study, go on to prestigious institutions for higher study, or secure placements in India or overseas with leading multinational corporations.

ISBF was founded in 2006 with the vision of delivering world‐class education in India. Its Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes – in the areas of Economics, Finance, Business, Accounting and Management – all receive academic direction from LSE, and students receive a University of London degree upon graduating. They are taught by an expert and highly qualified group of faculty members at ISBF, and also see deep engagement from LSE academicians, who train ISBF’s teachers as well as lecture students, apart from setting and grading the final examinations of ISBF students.
