Mumbai, Oct 27 2015: Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics announces Phase 1 admissions open for it second batch of students for the academic year 2016-17. The Academy is offering a one year Post Graduate Diploma in Economics and Finance beginning in July 2016, jointly with the Department of Economics (Autonomous) Mumbai University.
Inaugurated in July 2015 by Dr. Raghuram Rajan, MDAE stands apart in both the design of its course and its instruction. Its autonomy in course design allows for a contemporary curriculum. Additionally, it uses active case-study based learning. The curriculum also strongly focuses on developing key skills like communication, analytical and quantitative skills – eventually making its graduates more marketable and employable.

- The Speaker Series, which enables students to encounter exciting intellectual developments in the discipline of economics and finance. Previous speakers include, Dr. Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor to GOI. , Dr. Tom Richardson, IMF Resident Representative in India.
- The Economics Lab , where a prominent professional economist delivers a talk on a concrete real-world problem that he or she has grappled with and serve as an illustrative application of concepts that the students have learnt in the program. - 2 essays – One on a current economic topic of your choice (500 words) & one on why you want to stud at the Academy (250 words)
- An entrance test
